A arqueologia e suas imagens: algumas condições iniciais

É impossível pensar em Arqueologia sem suas imagens: sua vocação visual é amplamente reconhecida. Este artigo propõe uma genealogia crítica das práticas imagéticas na disciplina, articulando a constituição do observador arqueológico e dos aparatos visuais à sua institucionalização. Com base em autores como Crary, analisa-se como os modelos epistemológicos da câmara escura e da câmera fotográfica intra-agem com concepções de evidência, corpo, tempo e autenticidade. Entrelaçando episódios da história da arqueologia – como a mudança de propósito em conhecer o passado e a estabilização de regimes de visibilidade –, o artigo evidencia como esses modelos operaram na produção do conhecimento arqueológico e como continuam informando práticas atuais.
