Por uma "teoria das culturas de chimpanzés"

O texto é uma reflexão sobre a possibilidade de existência de uma “teoria das culturas de chimpanzés”. Para isso perpassa questões postas pela antropologia sociocultural, os resultados apresentados pelos primatólogos sobre o fenômeno, as críticas dos estudiosos do comportamento animal sobre tal possibilidade e os argumentos apresentados por aqueles que recusam a aplicação da expressão “cultura” ao comportamento de chimpanzés. No processo, busca analisar as concepções de cultura correntes na antropologia sociocultural e na primatologia bem como o papel e o lugar da etnografia em ambas. Por fim, apresenta as iniciativas, ainda recentes, dos primatólogos em direção ao desenvolvimento de uma etoarqueologia, seus resultados, suas possibilidades e limites.
