Prudent past, future of the end: an attempt to re-activate stratigraphies of emptied landscapes

The Anthropocene affects not only life on earth on a climatic and geological scale, but also political and scientific. This era is also the era of capitalism's sorcery, of the capture of sciences and scientists in a discourse and practices of blind progress toward the expansion of capital. Progress that is the fruit of environmental degradation, ethnocide, extinction, and the destruction of sacred places, landscapes, and materials of the past. In this essay, I address the participation of archaeology in this context, and how it has been constructing a harmless narrative about the past, emptying territories and landscapes of their non-human agency and thus making room for new landscapes and strata of a future that is leading us to the end.
