Mission

Revista de Arqueologia aims to promote the dissemination and socialization of the scientific knowledge produced about the Brazilian archaeological heritage. Being a continuous and thematic journal, the periodical creates an academic space for the communication of knowledge produced on archaeology by educational institutions, freelancers, researchers, students and companies on archaeology.

Language of titles, abstracts, keywords and text

Articles must contain title, abstract and keywords in the original language of the article text and in English. Texts in Portuguese, Spanish and English will be accepted.

Evaluation Process

The journal receives articles in a continuous flow, and it is the responsibility of the editors to analyze in which volume they will be published, as well as their pertinence, or not, for the journal. It will also depend on the editors' choice to evaluate the production of thematic or special volumes.

The articles presented for the continuous flows volumes and for the thematic or special volumes must respect the editorial norms, the opinions of the reviewers and the editorial team. Anonymity is reserved for reviewers, and it is up to them to sign their review or not.

Articles are submitted to at least 2 reviewers with expertise in the field and with a variety of perspectives, who review the texts from particular settings and advise the editor with regard to their originality, significance and scientific rigor. In the event of a tie in the analyzes (one in favor and the other against the publication of the paper), a third reviewer will be designated for additional evaluation. The reviewers are not members of the Brazilian Archaeology Society (which publishes the journal) and can be foreigners.

The period requested for sending reviews is 20 working days.

The whole process is documented and transparent, and the author can follow it through the journal's website in the OJS system or by mail at revistadearqueologia@gmail.com. Receipt and approval dates are also documented and presented in the system. The time between acceptance and publication of the article can vary from 3 to 6 months.

Double blind peer review is used to evaluate manuscripts, with chief editors ensuring that identification between authors and reviewers is concealed during the review process.

Due to the transparency of the editorial flow, the Journal has an editorial policy that the editors themselves do not publish articles while managing the journal.
