The work brings together contributions from the European Meetings on Forensic Archaeology (EMFA) and consolidates forensic archaeology as an autonomous discipline in Europe, strengthening its importance in many parts of the world. It stands out for its multidisciplinary approach, integrating archaeology, anthropology, geophysics, and criminalistics. The book presents three main axes: integration with forensic sciences, the use of non-destructive techniques, and the analysis of human remains. It highlights European technical advances, particularly in geophysical methods such as GPR. It also discusses methodological limitations, reinforcing scientific rigor in investigations. The volume presents relevant case studies, including historical conflicts and contemporary disappearances. It further expands the field by addressing crimes against cultural heritage. Ultimately, it serves as an essential reference, demonstrating the maturity and distinct identity of European forensic archaeology.
