In this paper, I present a series of thoughts about the role of perishable technologies in the contemporary world. To do it, I present short discussions about the rise of the Archaeology of the Contemporary Past as a field, its objectives, themes and the reasons by which the debate on technique and technology, especially perishable technologies, seam absent from the literature. Alongside these, I discuss the traditional themes of the work with perishable technologies on prehistoric contexts and the analytical possibilities brought forth by the inclusion of contemporary perishables in the debate. I also propose the idea of an Archaeology of Contemporary Crafts aimed at contemporary methods of production. All of these ideas are connected through accounts of my work on the production of boutique electric guitar.
