How and where are domesticated animals buried in contemporary Amazon? Experiences, affections, and death in the past and archaeological present in the city of Santarém/PA

In the Amazon, animals have been used for consumption and the supply of raw materials, they were also raised, cared for, and sometimes buried. This work shows a case study on the relationships experienced by people with their domesticated animals in Santarém/PA. We conducted twelve interviews with people who currently have domesticated animals in the city, then, we surveyed the species raised by Amazonian indigenous peoples. We realize that the relationships between people and animals in life influence the way they deal with the death of these animals and more specifically, how they are buried. we seek to identify the materiality that these relationships add to Archeology.
