The trade beads in Rio de Janeiro in the 16th century

This study discusses some results of research carried out in the Center of Rio de Janeiro and in the Lakes Region, in the southeast portion of the state. It analyzed glass beads remaining from the barter practiced between Tupinambá groups and Europeans, especially the French, during the 16th century. Its object involves material recovered from the Serrano, Barba Couto, Araruama, Primeiro de Março 37, Rosário 26, and Rosário 30 sites.
